THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON
Zak, a young man with Down syndrome, runs away from a nursing home to follow his dream of becoming a professional wrestling.
A strange turn of events pairs him on the road with Tyler, a small-time outlaw on the run, who becomes Zak’s unlikely coach and ally. Together they wind through deltas, elude capture, drink whisky, find God, catch fish, and convince Eleanor; a kind nursing home employee, to join them on their journey.
In the central role of Zak is newcomer Zack Gottsagen. The role was written specifically for him after writer-directors Tyler Nilson and Mike Schwartz were blown away by his talent at a camp for actors with disabilities. Gottsagen delivers on that promise with an emotionally persuasive performance that anchors this backwater yarn.
USA 2019; 97 Min.; English with English Subtitles
Director: Tyler Nilson, Michael Schwartz
